Roman Gladiators

 Roman Gladiators
I finished the book "The Hungers Games" with my classmates and this is my research i did about Roman Gladiators because i read that it was one of the authors inspirations for writing the book .

I went on the internet and found some websites about Roman gladiators, but only some gave me good information good. It gave me great information like..... The first gladiator contest was held in year 264 B.C. They did it to honor someones death(Heaton). Gladiator fights took place in amphitheaters. They were staged after animal fights and public executions(Dunkle).

After i looked up facts about the Roman gladiators i started to find out how it connects to the hunger games because that's what this research is mainly about. The Roman gladiators fought for entertainment just like the tributes in the hunger games. They gladiators had an "Organizer of the games" just like the game-makers in the hunger games, but the organizer wasn't responsible for making the fights more exciting. They were just there for setting them up and replacing the gladiators when they died. Gladiators could volunteer to be in the fights, almost like when Katniss volunteered for Rue in the reaping(Heaton). The gladiators could only participate in the fights if they were physically able; so they couldn't be sick or anything before the fights. The gladiators were trained in special school's like the tributes had training center's. Just like the rebellion district 13 had, there was one with the gladiator's against a king named Spartacus; and finally, the organizer's tried to keep the crowd pleaser's alive like Katniss and Peeta(Grout).

I choose Roman gladiators because i think that connects the most with "The Hunger Games" as far as the games go; and i jut love the actions the gladiators bring. Fighting to the death now that's what i like. Gladiators are really interesting, that's why i chose them for my research project.
